Physical Demands Analysis

The Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) is an important tool used by health care providers, employers and injured workers to help determine the physical components of a worker’s job function.  PDAs are used to help coordinate the return to work process of an injured worker by confirming the critical job demands and comparing this to the physical and functional tolerances of the injured worker.  PDAs are an integral part of disability management programs and are beneficial for employers to obtain prior to a work related injury. By completing a PDA prior to injury, the employer is able to provide stakeholders with an unbiased list of critical job demands. This allows for the return to work plan to focus on return to work barriers instead of the worker’s position, therefore providing a more timely, sustainable and successful return to work.
