Medical Monitoring Services

Medical Monitoring is the ongoing assessment of individuals engaged in safety sensitive work, such as train engineers or physicians, who have a medical condition that might preclude them from doing their job safely. These assessments confirm compliance with a treatment program, which can include abstinence from recreation drugs or randomized testing, and the determination of fitness for duty to ensure that the individual is able to their job without danger to themselves or the public.

Broadly speaking, medical monitoring falls into two categories: General Medical Monitoring and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Monitoring with all patients in all programs working directly with a Nurse Case Manager to help shepherd them through the program.

Program Length

The length of each monitoring program depends entirely on illness of concern with SUD monitoring running for an average of 2 -5 years, depending on the severity of the addiction, and general medical monitoring ranging from one year to the retirement from the safety sensitive position.

Who does the medical monitoring

All medical monitoring is completed and managed by our team of health care professionals which include specialist physicians (addiction specialist, occupational specialist, mental health specialist and others), LPNs and RNs. Most of your regular contact will be with your Nurse Case Manager with check-ins happening with your monitoring physician on a set frequency (monthly or quarterly) .

Who can benefit from Medical Monitoring

Anyone engaged in safety sensitive work or under a court order can benefit from our monitoring programs.

Who do I contact to enroll myself or my employees in this program

Our program currently only accepts referrals from third parties (employers / lawyers or as required by regulatory bodies) and account set-up requests can be made at healthmonitoring@acesomedical.com or at 587-401-5629.
